General

How long has KP Technologies been in business?

KP Technologies has been in business since March 2004.
Will a KP Technologies product void my manufacturer's warranty?

KP Technologies products should NOT void any warranties. KP Technologies is willing and able to offer you complete technical documentations should you ever be denied warranty work due to one of our modules. KP Technologies recommends all electronic products be installed by qualified professionals. KP Technologies or its employees cannot be held liable for any damage done to your vehicle through the installation and use of any KP Technologies product.
Can I install KP Technologies products by myself?

Our products are designed for the average Do-It-Yourself person but basic electronic knowledge is required. The installations do involve tapping into the factory wiring (it is the responsibility of the installer to verify all wires before making any connections).
What tools do I need to install KP Technologies' products?

Typical tools for installation include a digital Multimeter, a 10mm socket/ratchet, a Phillips-head screwdriver, a door panel removal tool, soldering iron, and electrical tape. Due to the extreme conditions found inside a vehicle KP Technologies recommends soldering all connections for long term reliability.
Can you recomend a shop local to me for installation?

KPtechnologies recomends that you ask around locally for shop recomendations. If you are close to the Dayton, Ohio area feel free to contact us to schedule an installation of any product we sell!
How do you ship your products?

All of our orders within the continental US and Canada are shipped via UPS ground. All other international orders are shipped via the USPS Priority Mail International service. Both services include the ability to track packages using provided tracking numbers. Standard transit time for delivery is 3-5 business days.
Window Roll-Up

How many window modules do I need?

One window module is all that is needed to control the driver's side and passenger's side windows.
Does the window module have an auto door lock feature?

Nissan/Infiniti modules do have an auto locking feature, the Honda module does not. For the Nissan/Infiniti the doors will lock 5 seconds after the ignition is turned on. This feature is programmable on/off by pushing a special key sequence in a given time period factory remote. Due to the retained accessory power (RAP) system it is NOT possible to auto unlock the doors when the car is shut off.
I have a sedan, will your widow module control all four windows?

Our module will control the same windows that your door lock cylinder controls. Insert your key in the door cylinder and hold it in the 'unlock' position (Hondas require two turns of the key). If all four windows go down then our module will raise all four windows.
Does the KP Technologies window roll-up module lower my windows?

No. Our module is designed to integrate with factory security, and all cars that we currently support already have the window down feature built in already.
Does the window roll up module close my sunroof?

For Nissan/Infiniti and Honda owners the answer is no, the window system and the sunroof system are completely isolated. However, the Mini Cooper window module will close the sunroof with no additional wiring.
Why does the Ridgeline have its own module?

The HR20 includes an additional hardware output, a relay, and instructions for hooking up the rear window. This allows the module to not only close the front windows but the back sliding glass as well.
Navigation Interface

What is the difference between the NB20 series of modules and the NI35?

The NB20 module works with (-) switching 'OK' or 'ENTER' switches. The NI35 works with 'OK' or 'ENTER' switches that are apart of a multiplexed communication bus. Unfortunately there is no way to know what type of button a particular system uses without accessing the circuit board and using an ohm meter to determine how the switch functions. Typically, the NB20 series works on older navigation systems and the NI35 works on newer Infiniti/Nissan systems that utilize a jog dial with 5 buttons (up, down, left, right, enter) in the middle of the dial.
Does KP Technologies offer any products or support for enabling / display video on a front screen?

Due to liability and legal concerns KP Technologies will NOT provide any product that allows video to be displayed on a front screen. Furthermore, KP Technologies will NOT provide any support for making such modifications. Using a KP Technologies products to enable video while in motion will void the manufacturer's warranty. If video in motion is wanted it will be solely up to the installer to make the necessary modifications to the vehicle.
Does installation of this product cause my MPG calculations / maintenance reminders to inaccurate?

On the NB20 series of modules typically the calculations are off. With the NI35 typically the calculations remain accurate.
What are three different programmable modes of operation for the AUX output?

Both the NB20 series and the NI35 module have three programmable modes of operation for the AUX output that are designed to be used in different ways for different applications. This provides the module with a degree of flexibility that allows the module to control virtually any device. The first mode of operation is a simple on/off mode. Each time you trigger the AUX output the output will toggle (ie on to off or off to on). Each time the car is started the output will be 'OFF'. The second mode of operation is on/off with memory. This mode operates the same as the first mode, but each time you start the car the output will be in the same state it was last time you shut the car off. So, if you had the output on and shut the car off when you restart the car it will still be on. The final mode is the Smart VSS Bypass mode. Once triggered the module will continue to monitor the 'OK' or 'ENTER' button. If the button goes unpressed for ~30 seconds on the NI35 or ~20 seconds on the NB20 the AUX output will automatically turn off. If the button is pushed the timer will reset with a fresh count down before timing out. The theory behind this is as long as you are programming the module won't time out. If you stop pushing the 'OK' or 'ENTER' button the bypass will time out on its own because you are no longer using it.
Push Button Start

Do I still need to use my key with the PB50?

The PB50 is designed to only control the starter - it doesn't control the ignition. With only the PB50 installed you will need your ignition key for three reasons:
1. to power the ignition circuits in the vehicle
2. to unlock the mechanical steering wheel lock
3. to satisfy OEM security requirements (varies by year/make/model)
Theoretically, if you bypass the mechanical wheel lock, provide alternative means for ignition switching, and override any OEM security you will not need your key at all to drive the vehicle.
Mirror Tilt

Can I install the MT30-D in my car?

KPtechnologies does not recomend the MT30-D be installed in any vehicle where the mirror control switch is physically located on the drivers door. Installing the module on this type of vehicle would require running several wires between the door and the cabin (a feat that typically isn't easy, although not impossible). The MT30-S is recomended for this type of vehicle.
Can I independently control which mirror tilts?

The MT30-D doesn't come with any way to pick one mirror over the other, but it can be done with a special switch. Contact KPtechnologies for more information on the switch.
Does the Mirror Tilt module work on a manual transmission? How about an automatic?

The mirror tilt modules work with any type of transmission - both auto and manuals. The module connects to the "back up light" and all cars should have one.

Traction Control

Can I use the traction control module for other applications?

Yes. The traction control module can be used with any button in your vehicle.
Accessories/Relays

Is a relay pack required for all modules?

No. The relay pack is only required for the Auto Lock/Unlock module on Nissan/Infiniti vehicles.
