Memory Sport Mode on 2007 Mini Cooper

Postby KPierson » Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:24 pm

This was a pretty quick and easy installation that adds a memory to the Sport mode on the Mini Cooper.

All of the wiring was done in the passengers kick panel, and the module was physically mounted under the fuse box in the passenger kick.

There are only three wires - switched ignition, ground, and the (-) sport mode button:

Ground:

So the final wiring looks like this:

KPtech yellow --> Mini Cooper green (this is a fused switched power source that feeds the heated seats)
KPtech black --> Chassis grounded to bolt under fuse box
KPtech orange --> Mini blue wire in harness coming up side of fuse box - there may be multiple blue wires in this bundle so make sure you use a meter to verify the correct wire (goes to ground when the button is pushed).

I have no green wire. No heated seats. Tried another, (the orange one) but it was not tied to the ignition. What other wire can I use for ignition switched power?

There should be a red/yellow wire at pin 7 on a 10 pin connector in the fuse box area. That should work. It is a fuse that protects the heater / a/c and is a switched source.

Ended up using a Red/Blk wire with yellow dots in a blue 10 pin plug in the passenger kick panel fuse box. Pin 2. It works! A previous install of a second party alarm system had used it. I piggy backed. Thanks for the quick response.
