M35 / M45 Navigation Interface Testing Info

Postby KPierson » Sun Dec 28, 2008 9:53 pm

I finally got a hold of a info center from an M35 and did some testing on it. I found the two spots on the circuit board that need to be connected.

This is the "back" side of the board - it has two large white connectors on it. On the bottom connector one wire needs to be soldered to the 5th pin from the left on the bottom of the connector:

On the "front" of the board (the side with the OK button) the other wire needs to be soldered to one side of one of the switches. The correct position is denoted with a red rectangle:

Here is a picture of a wire soldered to the correct point:

Now, with both wires connected, you can use an ohm meter and verity that the meter reads "~0 vdc" when you push the "OK" button (the button in the center of the up/down/left/right buttons".

Now, we need someone to try it out! If needed I can ship my info center so no modifying of the OEM piece is needed.

There may be different versions of info centers, I'm not sure. The one I have has two white connectors on the back to plug in to the car.

Hi Kevin,

I recently purchased a new 2008 Infiniti M35S and am really frustrated with the NAV Lockout while moving. I checked out your site and came across this page showing that you are in beta testing for the M35.

I was wondering if your kit is for a 2008 model year? Also, I noticed that in the pics for the front of the board, the red square is identifying the 4th circuit from the left, but the connected wire is on the 3rd circuit from the left. Which one is correct?

It sounds like you really have a great product, and i'm really interested in it.

Thanks,
DonL

Don,

We haven't actually had anyone volunteer to test this yet - the info unit I purchased is still sitting here collecting dust. I believe the unit I have is out of an '05 or so - I do know they are different from year to year.

From memory I believe that both spots on the pictures above are correct, as I believe those two pins are common. I would, however, definately go with the the contact that the wire is soldered to, as I know that after I soldered the wires I verifyed continuity with the "ENTER" button. We still haven't been able to verify if the module works at all due to the lack of having a test vehicle!

Hi Kevin:

I have a 2006 Infiniti M35x and I am very interested in your NAV product for this car - interested enough to test the module in my car if you still need a volunteer. Feel free to contact me.

What is the progress of this? I have a 2006 M35 and I am currently interested in the Auto-Lock/Unlock, Navi Bypass, and Window Rollup modules. Is there any more information on these modules working on my car? Do you still need someone to test these out?

We are still looking for someone to test the NI35. The auto lock module and the window roll up modules are both compatible.

Kevin,

I just bought a 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport-I came across your company and website after looking at the NICO forums searching for navigation bypass. I would say I am a beginning "modder," but I am "OCD enough" (learning a lot quite rapidly) to have successfully installed an auxillary audio input module PAC-Nis2 module using my satellite radio input and am definitely interested in:

1. Navigation interface module
2. Navigation OK bypass module
3. Foglight controller module

Have you had any luck with beta testers for M35/45 owners? I would be more than willing to try to see if your products are compatible. I am certainly willing to photo document the process step-by-step to help other DIYers/Modders

I am hoping to upgrade my fog lights to HIDs to match my low beams.

I think there are enough M35/45 owners who would purchase the product if they knew it meant less cutting and splicing into the navigation wiring harness.

Please let me know how we can make this happen.

Sincerely,

Craig J. Huang

We still haven't had anyone try to install the NI35 on the M platform. We do think it is compatible but have no way of verifying it without a test car.

Hello everyone and apologies for going missing for so long. It's quite a coincidence that this thread just got hit again because I went on Friday past with my friend that owns the 2006 M35x to pick up her new '11 M37x. She did not trade in the M35x because I am buying it from her. I will pick up the car on Tuesday (July 6th) and then no holds barred, I will be available for disassembly and testing. I am also an avid modder, just couldn't convince the friend to let me take her car apart, LOL. Now that it's mine, there's nothing stopping me.
